Long-term roles, not contract churn.
Span Line and Art Metal hire steadily for the trades that do the work — CWB-qualified fabricators, install crew, structural engineers. We're small enough that every hire matters, and we hire for long-term fit rather than headcount.
Three roles, occasionally open.
CWB-qualified fabricator / welder
Structural steel fabrication for mezzanines and stair systems. CWB W47.1 qualification or willingness to qualify on hire. Comfortable reading stamped structural drawings, running flux-core and stick procedures, working a CNC plasma table. Day shift, full-time, year-round.
Steel install crew
Field install of mezzanines and stair systems across the GTA and southern Ontario. Working at heights certification required (or obtain on hire). Forklift / boom-lift operation an asset. Must be available for occasional weekend / off-hours shutdown installs. Travel within Ontario, occasional overnight.
Structural engineer (P.Eng. or EIT)
Structural design for steel mezzanines and stair systems. P.Eng. registered with PEO (or EIT working toward it). Comfortable with CSA S16-19, NBCC §4.1, OBC §3.4 stair / egress design, and stamping production drawings. Hands-on role; site measures included.
How to apply
If you've read this and the role fits, send a CV and a brief note about what you're looking for. No formal application portal — we read every email that arrives.
No contract-to-hire. No three-month "trials" with no benefits. No race-to-the-bottom day rates. We're a small shop in a province where steel work is steady and skilled tradespeople are short. The compensation reflects that, and the roles are full-time year-round with benefits from day one.
