Accessibility commitment.

Span Line Systems is committed to providing an accessible website and accessible service in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Information and Communications Standard. This page is the operational statement of how we do that and how to reach us if something falls short.

Web accessibility

spanlinesystems.com is built to meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA requirements as required under the Information and Communications Standard. Specifically:

  • Semantic HTML — pages use proper heading hierarchy, list structures, and landmarks (header, main, footer, nav, section) so screen readers can navigate them logically.
  • Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements (links, the navigation dropdown, the quote form) are reachable and operable by keyboard alone. Focus states are visible.
  • Colour contrast — text and UI elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios in both day and night themes.
  • Alt text — all images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images use empty alt to be skipped by screen readers.
  • Form labels — every form field has an associated label. Errors are announced clearly.
  • ARIA attributes — used where native HTML semantics aren't sufficient (the dropdown navigation uses `aria-haspopup`, `aria-expanded`, `role="menu"` / `role="menuitem"`).
  • Reduced motion — animations are subtle and respect the user's `prefers-reduced-motion` setting.

Documents in alternate formats

Stamped drawings, quotes, contracts, and project documents are produced in PDF as standard. On request we can provide:

  • Plain-text versions of marketing documents.
  • Large-print versions of quote letters and contracts.
  • Reading or interpretation services for in-person meetings (with reasonable advance notice).

Stamped engineering drawings retain their PDF form for permit-submission accuracy; we provide accompanying narrative documents in alternate formats where useful.

Customer service

We provide service to people with disabilities in a way that respects their dignity and independence:

  • Site walks and meetings are scheduled with accessibility in mind. If a meeting location isn't accessible, we'll relocate to one that is, or arrange a phone / video alternative.
  • Communication preferences are accommodated — phone, email, text, video relay, or in-person all work for us.
  • Service animals and support persons are welcome at any meeting on Span Line premises or under our control.
  • Temporary disruptions to accessibility (e.g. shop floor under repair) are communicated in advance where possible.

Training

Customer-facing staff are trained on the requirements of the Customer Service Standard under the AODA. Training covers communication with people with various types of disabilities, the use of assistive devices, and how to handle situations where a barrier arises.
