In short: We're an Ontario fabricator serving Markham with mezzanines, platforms, and stairs, stamped to OBC 2024. The shop is a straightforward run across the top of the city, so Milliken and 404/407-corridor sites get scheduled measures and installs by our own crew.

For Milliken and the 404.

Markham blends a well-known technology sector with a solid base of light industrial, warehousing, and distribution — the Milliken employment area and the corridors along the 404 and 407. The buildings tend to be newer and cleaner than the old Toronto stock, which usually means better clear heights to work with when adding a mezzanine or a work platform.

That newer stock is well suited to storage mezzanines, pack-out platforms, and equipment decks that make more of an already-efficient footprint. From the shop, Markham is a run across the top of the city on the 407, keeping measures and installs on a tight schedule.

Measure, stamp, build, install.

  1. 01

    Site measure

A ~30-minute visit to capture column centres, clear heights, and slab condition — Markham's newer buildings usually give us good clear height to work with.

  2. 02

    Stamped drawings

Engineered and P.Eng.-stamped to OBC 2024 in-house — the set the City of Markham Building Standards Department needs for the permit.

  3. 03

    In-house fabrication

Cut, welded, and finished at our shop to CWB W47.1 — not white-labelled out. Galvanizing or shop primer as the environment calls for.

  4. 04

    Install on your window

Sequenced to your operating schedule and installed by our own crew across Milliken and the 404/407 employment lands.

See the full engineering & install process for how each stage is controlled.

// Who builds it

Span Line Systems is the industrial mezzanine and stair division of Art Metal Canada. Drawings are stamped by a PEO-licensed P.Eng. on staff; welding is done to CWB W47.1 and CSA W59 by our own certified fabricators. We don't white-label the fabrication or subcontract it out — the shop that draws it builds it.

Straight answers.

Which Markham areas do you cover?
The Milliken industrial area and the employment lands along the 404 and 407, plus the light-industrial pockets across the city.
What kind of steel do Markham facilities usually need?
Given the newer, cleaner building stock, it's mostly storage mezzanines, pack-out and work platforms, and equipment decks — plus the egress stairs and guardrails that come with adding an occupied platform.
Do you handle the OBC drawings for a Markham permit?
Yes — we produce the P.Eng.-stamped OBC 2024 drawing set the City of Markham Building Standards Department needs; the permit submission is typically the GC's scope unless we agree otherwise.

We cover the north and east GTA — Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Scarborough, Pickering — and ship province-wide. See the full service-area map or tell us the span.
