In short: We're an Ontario fabricator supplying Ottawa with mezzanines, platforms, and stairs, engineered and stamped to OBC 2024. Engineered here, shipped east.

Ottawa's floor-space demand sits in its industrial and business parks more than in heavy manufacturing — Kanata and Stittsville to the west, the east-end areas around Sheffield and Cyrville, and the Ottawa Business Park, served by the 417 and 416. Warehousing, distribution, construction supply, and government-adjacent operations all need the same structural steel: storage mezzanines, work platforms, and code-compliant stairs.

At around four and a half hours east, Ottawa is a ship-first market for us. The steel is engineered, fabricated, and finished in our shop, then crated and freighted out — and we lean on modular, bolt-together detailing so it goes together cleanly on site, whether your contractor sets it or we send a crew for a larger project. It's all stamped to the same OBC 2024 that governs the Ottawa permit.

Measure, stamp, build, deliver.

  1. 01

    Site measure

For Ottawa we usually work from your drawings, dimensions, and photos to lock the design, with a coordinated site visit where anything attaches to existing structure.

  2. 02

    Stamped drawings

Engineered and P.Eng.-stamped to OBC 2024 in-house — the set the City of Ottawa Building Code Services needs for the permit.

  3. 03

    In-house fabrication

Cut, welded, and finished at our shop to CWB W47.1 — not white-labelled out. Galvanizing or shop primer as the environment calls for.

  4. 04

    Delivery & assembly

Crated and freighted east, detailed for bolt-together field assembly. Your contractor sets it with our erection drawings and phone support, or we send a crew for larger projects.

// Who builds it

Span Line Systems is the industrial mezzanine and stair division of Art Metal Canada. Drawings are stamped by a PEO-licensed P.Eng. on staff; welding is done to CWB W47.1 and CSA W59 by our own certified fabricators. We don't white-label the fabrication or subcontract it out — the shop that draws it builds it.

Straight answers.

Do you ship to Ottawa?
Yes — Ottawa is a ship-focused market for us. We engineer and fabricate in our Ontario shop, crate the steel, and freight it east, with modular bolt-together detailing so it assembles cleanly on site.
Can our own contractor assemble it?
Yes. We detail Ottawa orders for bolted field connections and supply full erection drawings, so a local millwright or GC can set it. For larger projects we'll send our own crew.
Are your drawings valid for an Ottawa permit?
Yes — everything is P.Eng.-stamped to the Ontario Building Code, which applies province-wide, and submitted through City of Ottawa Building Code Services.
