Span Line engineers and fabricates equipment platforms, catwalks, process-access stairs, and mezzanines for Sarnia's petrochemical and industrial base — shipped down the 402, with install on larger projects.
In short: We're an Ontario fabricator supplying Sarnia's Chemical Valley and industrial sector with equipment platforms, catwalks, ship's ladders, and stairs, welded to CWB W47.1 and stamped to OBC 2024. For process plants and tank farms.
Sarnia is refining and petrochemicals — the Chemical Valley cluster of refineries and chemical plants along the Vidal Street corridor and the St. Clair River, plus the industrial-construction and fabrication trades that serve them. The steel demand here skews heavily to process access: equipment-support platforms, catwalks over and between units, ship's ladders and cage ladders to tank tops, and maintenance stairs — the kind of work where weld quality and access geometry are everything.
At about two and a half hours down the 402, Sarnia is a ship-first market for us. We engineer and build to CWB W47.1 in the shop, crate the steel, and freight it down — detailed for bolt-together assembly so a plant's own trades can set it, with our crew on larger projects. Everything carries the OBC 2024 stamp the Sarnia permit needs.

01
Site measure
For Sarnia we typically lock the design from your drawings, dimensions, and photos — with a coordinated site visit for process-unit access or anything tied into existing structure.
-
02
Stamped drawings
Engineered and P.Eng.-stamped to OBC 2024 in-house — the set the City of Sarnia Building Development Services needs for the permit.
-
03
In-house fabrication
Cut, welded, and finished at our shop to CWB W47.1 — not white-labelled out. Galvanizing or shop primer as the environment calls for.

04
Delivery & install
Crated and freighted down the 402, detailed for bolt-together field assembly. Your plant trades set it with our erection drawings, or we send our own crew for larger process-access projects.
See the full engineering & install process for how each stage is controlled.
Span Line Systems is the industrial mezzanine and stair division of Art Metal Canada. Drawings are stamped by a PEO-licensed P.Eng. on staff; welding is done to CWB W47.1 and CSA W59 by our own certified fabricators. We don't white-label the fabrication or subcontract it out — the shop that draws it builds it.
